Reverend James N. Gosnell

Reverend James N. Gosnell is a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.  His early childhood to adulthood was spent at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.  Feeling the need for a change and following the call of God, he left Mount Olivet to join Lewin United Methodist Church, which after a merger became Arlington-Lewin United Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend Charles H. Stevenson.  In 2002, he became a certified candidate for ordained ministry.

His first appointment was to St. Matthews UMC in East Baltimore in 2007, where he served for three years before being appointed to Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial UMC. He is currently serving at Metropolitan United Methodist Church Severn, MD

He is a product of the Baltimore County Public School System.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.  While enrolled at UMBC, he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. His studies beyond undergraduate include studies at Coppin State College.  In May 2011, he earned his Masters of Theology from Saint Mary’s Ecumenical Institute of Theology and in May 2014, he earned his Masters of Divinity from Wesley Seminary.

He is the husband of Tempie White-Gosnell, has one son, Aaron Schell and was employed by UPS as a package car driver where he had been employed for 30 years.  He retired from UPS on Dec. 24, 2015.

Reverend Gosnell understands that regardless of what comes his way, he must take it all in stride and remain humble giving God all the credit.  He does this because of Matthew 23:12, which says, “all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.”
